Upcoming Fundraisers
This year, Psi Chi is participating in Relay for Life, in which we
work to raise money to help fight cancer. It is a time to honor those who have
died from cancer and those who have survived it. We are also striving to raise
awareness of cancer, and work to prevent it, so that we can celebrate more
birthdays!
The main event will be held on April 6th in Burdick Gym. It will consist of
some fun activities, such as Minute-to-Win It, raffle tickets, and a moon
bounce! At approximately 10:00pm, there will be a luminaria ceremony. It begins
at 6pm on Saturday and goes on until 6am the next morning! The idea is that
“Cancer never sleeps, so why should we?” Nobody is required to stay the entire
12 hours, and you are allowed to take naps during the event.
We want to invite all of you to join our team. Relay for Life is a great opportunity to earn community
service hours for those who need it, and also to get Psi Chi’s name out there!
We are also a fundraiser at Bateman’s on April 3rd, which will help us raise
money for Relay. All customers who present our event
flyer to their server will have 10% of their check donated to the American
Cancer Society. So far, our team has exceeded our initial team fundraising goal
of $400, and has since been raised to $1,000.
So sign up today and help
us reach our new goal! You can register online by clicking on the following
link: http://main.acsevents.org/site/TR?fr_id=48756&pg=team&team_id=1385982.
Domino’s Pizza® is very excited to support Towson University
Psychology Club by helping to raise money for
important initiatives. We’ve developed a program that’s easy to participate in,
that will provide you with a wonderful meal and will help your local community.
On your organization’s Dough Raising Night, Tuesday, April 2nd,
we will donate 20% of your purchase back to Towson University Psychology
Club! Be sure to present the flyer when you order.

March 26- Council Positions and Relay for Life
Thanks again to all who came to the Panera fundraiser last night! Remember to
please email me if you attended, so I can check that off as a psych club
membership requirement.
For the meeting this week, there has been a
change of plans. Our original guest speaker is no longer able to come, so
instead, we are going to be giving you all the information you need on running
for council positions next year and how to join our Relay for Life team. Be on
the lookout for a follow-up email regarding Relay! Also, don't forget that being
a Psi Chi/ Psych club council member looks great on graduate school
applications, and it is a great experience! If you're interested in running for
office, please see my earlier email for the council application. The meeting
will be at the usual time and place.
Lastly, there is still time to be
considered for a research assistant position next year! Dr. Sheffield is looking
for a few students to be part of either the Cognitive Development Lab or the
iCART lab. The development lab works with kids, primarily studying cognitive
processes like memory and problem solving. The iCART lab is affiliated with NPR
in radio captioning and deaf accessibility. If either of these opportunities
sound interesting to you or if you would like more information, please contact
the lab manager Melinda Hines (mhines3@students.towson.edu). Research is another
great way to boost your resume!

If you are not able to regularly attend meetings, we ask that you please respond to our weekly email question about the minutes from that week so we know that you are staying up to date. This way, we are able to keep track of people who are actively involved in the club and listed on our official roster.

for that deadline is Friday, so be sure to turn those in to the departmental
office or one of the officers asap.
